An Effective Platform for Knowledge Sharing

The new intranet creates the framework for information dissemination and knowledge sharing between the school’s 900 employees.

SDE needed a unifying joint Intranet for their 900 employees spread out on different locations. Their intranet forms the basis of an effective spread of information and knowledge sharing in the whole institution. Functions, such as Noticeboard, news channels, blog and document sharing, make it simple for the employees to share relevant information and knowledge across the organization. As an example, the employees are able to simply and intuitively create and comment on internal messages in noticeboard and news channels, and also, have the possibility of effective document sharing that facilitates the collaboration between co-workers.

The solution is installed in context with ESIS, which is an IT collaboration between 5 vocational schools. This enables the schools to have an effective operation and at the same time share developments costs. The Schools have recieved 5 individual Wizdom intranets.

University College UCC

Intranet for 1,000 employees and 10,000 students

Located in the Greater Copenhagen area of Denmark, University UCC qualifies employees and leaders for schools, institutions, and the health sector. With more than 10,000 students enrolled in bachelor programmes, UCC is one of Denmark’s main providers of teacher and social education.

UCC’s intranet is based on Wizdom Add-In that offers UCC a hybrid solutions based on SharePoint and Office 365. The Add-In model allows UCC to easily migrate their intranet solution to Office 365, if they wish to in the future.

UCC wanted a standard solution with the basic intranet functions built in. By choosing Wizdom, we don’t have to spend time and energy on development. Our new, internal portal is a user-friendly tool that delivers targeted content. Furthermore, the new intranet is fully responsive. With Wizdom we are able to focus more on content and less on technology.

University College of Northern Denmark

UCN is Live With New Office 365 Study Portal

The University College of Northern Denmark needed a platform that was able to work as a directory in the digital study environment. With Wizdom, The University College has created a study portal that provides access to all information and digital solutions the students use within the context of their studies.

The platform includes lateral information that´s not directly study related, such as practical information about the campus, job offers, and events.

Simplicity

Simplicity and a responsive design were important for UCN.

It was important for us to get a simple platform and a solution with only four functions: Find your education, links for study relevant systems, news, and phonebook.

 

The intention is that you, as a student, access all information through your education site. Each education site features a menu with target grouped menu items. Some menu items are visible for all students. Others are only shown to students on a specific education or campus. This reduces complexity for students.

UCN Communication

Diverse User Group

UCN’s user group consists of students from all of the 35 educations offered by UCN; everything from midwifery to plumbing. The university college wanted a solution that was able to manage this diverse user group of 9,200 students.

The challenge for UCN was, therefore, to create a coherent user experience and at the same time fufill individual needs. The platform had to create a connection across the spectrum of educations and also link to relevant information. A simple interface along with Wizdom’s features enabling personalized intranet content, supports this.

KADK

Enabling Educators and Students to Focus on Their Main Competences

Every day around 2,000 creative students develop their abilities within architecture, design and preservation in one of KADK’s many study programs.

KADK has no less than 550 educators, 3 schools, 7 institutes and around 2,000 students that study a variety of modules in different fields of study. As a result, it is quite cumbersome to offer students and educators organized and updated knowledge about every program and module at KADK.

 

Intranet ‘Rooms’ Ease Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration

When KADK were to change the existing SharePoint 2010 platform to SharePoint 2013, the academy chose an intranet solution based on Wizdom that features an integrated room portal. In this portal educators and students can easily find rooms dedicated to each program and module.

The rooms offer a place for all information about individual modules and programs. Furthermore, the rooms allow for a number of actions. Students can hand in assignments by uploading documents. In the same way, educators can share teaching resources, send group emails and easily print lists with contact information and pictures of students.

 

Students and educators can find all they need in one place because we have gathered information and functionality. In this way we have created a small digital workplace.

The goal is that our educators focus on using their main competencies on what they are meant for: Education and scientific work.

KADK

To create and maintain information about every single of KADK’s modules manually would demand a whole lot of resources. This is why KADK has established processes that ensure this happens automatically.

When KADK’s module catalogue is updated before the start of a new semester, a room is automatically created for each of the catalogue’s modules. A site template makes sure that the rooms contain the right type of content and the right features.

The rooms draw information from the administration system and continuously update lists of students that follow a module. In this way, students are given access to the right rooms, and, at the same time, the display in module rooms of students, that follow a certain module, stays updated.

SIMAC

A User-friendly And Relevant Platform For Students And Employees of SIMAC

Svendborg International Maritime Academy (SIMAC)’s intranet makes information and knowledge sharing easily accessible for both employees and students.

 

Relevant and easy to navigate

With 65 employees working in different areas, and 550 students that each has different courses and lines of subject, the relevant information can easily disappear if it is not structured properly. Therefore, it was prioritized that the solution should be well-structured and tailored for each user.

It’s important that the intranet is found convenient and presents each user for the relevant data – otherwise the users pull out

The focal points of SIMAC’s new intranet, were rights management, project space and relevant information. Hence the students can easily navigate to find educational material, study plans, relevant cancelations, information of teachers etc., which is related to the relevant subjects of the students. Likewise, the intranet enables employees to knowledge sharing and find information of their relevant areas with project spaces, where the different departments of SIMAC can collaborate in projects and present their work.

 

Spotlight

All of the users of the intranet have a personal profile with contact information, responsibilities and competencies. The function “Spotlight” is used to highlight each employee profile regularly to create awareness of in-house competencies and for the students to find a appropriate counselors for their projects.

 

Timesaving Implementation with Wizdom

Wizdom as an out-of-the-box solution for SharePoint, offers a variety of modules and functions for a timesaving process.

Wizdom offered a solution that could save us time and resources. We were simply able to push the right buttons from the start instead of getting lost in SharePoint
